Here are 10 things you can do this week to minister to your fellow students, teachers, church members, and family.

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’          “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.    For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,    I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’          “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’          “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’   Matthew 25:40-45 (NIV)

Number 1:

Pray for your teachers. Show them Christ by the way you act and react.  Encourage them by telling them you are praying for them.  Thank them.  They are unsung heroes.

Number 2:

Volunteer to clean your church, the youth room, or other area of the church campus.  Stay for a few minutes after the Sunday A.M. service and clean up any trash (probably candy wrappers lol), pick up church bulletins that have been left behind, ect.   The Youth Room…let’s face it…teenagers are messy.  No shortage of cleanup needed after most Wednesday night meetings.   You can also come by the church and clean up around the outside of the building and parking lots.

Number 3:

Bring a lost friend to church.

Number 4:

Write a thank you note to your parents for all they have done for you.  Yeah, I’m serious.

Number 5:

Volunteer.  The Salvation Army always has a need for people to sort clothing and food.  The Soup Kitchen is always in need of workers to serve and clean before/during/after meals.  The Children’s Home can use people to help in many ways.  Check around for a need.  Find one that is a fit for you and get to work.

Number 6:

Seriously evaluate the music you listen to.  Is it God-honoring?  If not, tell us the kind music you are listening to and we can find you Christian alternatives.  If it is God-honoring, then share your favorite artist with someone.  Many times people assume they won’t like it because it’s “Christian”.  We’ve come a long way from THIS:

Number 7:

Ask for a list of students who haven’t been to church in awhile and plan to visit/talk to during school/text/Facebook/direct message/ them.  Let them know they were missed.

Number 8:

Find a reading plan to read through the Bible in a year. Check out YouVersion for some great digital reading plans that are FREE!  https://www.bible.com/reading-plans

Number 9:

Meet with some friends before school to pray for those in your school that are lost.  There is no reason to only do this during See You At The Pole each year.  Let’s make it a weekly or even daily meet up.

Number 10:

This one may seem like a self serving request, but it is really important.  Pray for your Pastor and Youth Pastor (especially if I’m your YP) and the other leaders in your church.  There is so much that we have laid upon us and it can be really difficult at times.

So there you go.  Ten things you can do this week to minister to yourself and those within your normal circle of influence.
