25 Days 25 Random Acts of Kindness Challenge – Day 3
Give a hug to someone you wouldn’t normally give a hug to. Don’t be awkward, attack, tackle, or blindside them, but wait for an appropriate opportunity. When you see that opportunity, and you’ll know it when it happens, go for it. Give them a hug. Don’t miss out on a chance to melt an icy heart. A simple hug can do it.
Just recently Christy was presented with just this opportunity and she took it. The woman was someone who just a little while before was being, well, let’s just say “very negative”. Not towards Christy and myself, but in general overall. She was stand offish, and a bit unapproachable as we left. And then it happened. Christy went in for the hug as we were leaving her. I’ll be honest, I was like, “Uh oh”. The thing is though, the woman hugged her back. She clasped on to Christy like it was the last hug she was ever going to get. It was more likely though, the first one she had received like that in a while. After Christy climbed into the car and seeing the look on my face of sheer “Wow”, she said, “I just felt like she needed a hug.”. I got a call a few days later from the woman to tell me to thank Christy for that very hug. She said “That hug meant more to me than you’ll ever know. I needed it so much. Please let her know and thank her for me.” A simple hug can melt the icy heart.
